ICVHealth Scientific Director Awarded $1.6M CIHR Grant for Women’s Heart Health Study

July 12, 2018

Congratulations to our Scientific Director Dr. Karin Humphries who will co-lead one of seven large grants funded in the latest Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) competition!

Her study, nicknamed “CODE-MI”, was awarded $1.6M over five years and aims to determine if, after the introduction of a lower blood protein cut-point, women are more likely to received appropriate care and are less likely to die, present to hospital with a heart attack, stroke, heart failure, or the need for urgent revascularization within a year of discharge from the hospital. The study will be conducted in 26 emergency departments (EDs) across Canada.

Visit the official CIHR results page to learn more.

We look forward to working together with Dr. Humphries to improve the care and health outcomes in women with suspected heart disease!
